The rehabilitation works begin at the Infantário de Midões, in Tábua, three months after the fire of October 2017. The ceremony for the placement of the “First Stone” takes place on February 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
In record time, a team of Volunteers supported by APPII – Portuguese Association of Promoters and Real Estate Investors – was able to start up the rehabilitation process of the building. The initiative has the support of the Municipality of Tábua and the Parish Council of Midões.
This is an unprecedented initiative in Portugal, since a team of volunteers who was shocked by the “hell” that the country lived last year joined forces to help a fragile community to, as far as possible, overcome the trauma. In the words of the Mayor of Tábua, this will perhaps be one of the first buildings affected by the flames to be completed. Mário de Almeida Loureiro further predicts that this “School of All Us” will be operational and ready to welcome students as early as next academic year 2018/2019.
